Start with what you have
Most recipe sites ask what you feel like eating. Kadai & Cooker asks what’s in your kitchen.
Tell us the onions, paneer, rice or lentils within reach, and we rank the collection by how little you’d be missing. Salt, pepper and oil are assumed, so they never count against you. If you already know what you want, you can search by dish, cuisine or ingredient, or add something like under:20 to see only recipes that take twenty minutes or less.
Why this exists
I started this site to ensure that everyone gets a proper recipe and all facts about it. So that when you eat , you eat healthy that suits your body.
How the recipes are written
- Amounts scale. Change the number of servings and every ingredient quantity in the method updates with it, so “2 tbsp” becomes the right amount for your pot.
- Timings are for the whole dish. Each recipe shows total time and hands-on time separately, so you can tell a quick dish from a quick-to-prepare one.
- Ingredients are listed the way you’d shop for them, with preparation notes (“finely chopped”, “boiled and peeled”) kept apart from the name.
About the nutrition figures
Nutrition information is shown per serving. Each recipe says how its figures were produced: calculated from ingredient data, estimated, or measured in a lab. These are very different levels of certainty, and we’d rather tell you which one you’re looking at. Treat the numbers as a helpful guide, not a laboratory result. Cooking method, brand and portion size all change the real value.
Labels such as “High Protein” or “High Fibre” are worked out automatically from those figures, using a standard cut-off of at least 20% of the daily reference amount in one serving. Nobody tags them by hand.
The meal planner
The meal planner builds a breakfast, lunch and dinner around a daily calorie figure you choose, or works one out from a weight goal and a timeframe. It’s a tool for ideas and organisation, not medical advice. If you have a health condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or want to change your weight quickly, please speak to a doctor or registered dietitian first. For that reason, the weight-goal tool won’t produce a plan faster than a commonly accepted safe pace.
Free accounts
You can use the site and see your first meal plan without signing up. A free account lets you save plans, come back to them later, and download them as a PDF. We only ask for your name and email. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time with one click, and manage that setting on your account page.
